Ms Wang (who is reluctant to reveal her full name), a resident of Wucheng (a county in Dezhou, a city in East China's Shandong Province), is grateful for workers with both the micro court (established by Wucheng Women's Federation and Wucheng People's Court last year) and the local mediation center (to mediate residents' marital and family disputes), who helped her resolve a dispute with her ex-husband. Thanks to the workers' mediation, Ms Wang and her ex-husband reached a consensus that Ms Wang would visit their child regularly.
A cadre with Wucheng Women's Federation recently told media the women's federations, at all levels in Wucheng, during the past year have established a combined 67 micro courts (across the county), which have handled 16 cases involving infringements of women's rights and interests, and which have helped residents resolve 53 disputes with their relatives and/or neighbors.
"Many women and children have benefited from the micro courts (near their houses), from which they have sought help to protect their legal rights and interests," says Chen Guimei, President of Wucheng Women's Federation.
Wucheng Women's Federation has established a group of volunteers, composed of women and members of the executive committees of the federations, at all levels in Wucheng, to provide voluntary services to help women protect their rights and interests.
